Nilton Bahlis dos Santos

Nilton Bahlis dos Santos holds a PhD in Information Science (UFRJ/IBICT); he is a researcher in and chair of the “Technologies, Culture, and Interactive Practices and Health Innovation” research group accredited by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz)/CNPq. He is a civil servant allocated to the National Public Health School (ENSP)/Fiocruz); a permanent professor, the Graduate Program in Health Information and Communication (PPGICS), ICICT/Fiocruz; a collaborating professor, the Graduate Program in Biology and Health Teaching (PGEBS) Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC)/Fiocruz. Chair, Unit for Experimentation on Interactive Technologies (NEXT)/Fiocruz); and TEDxFiocruz host. He is a board member of the Observatory for Cybersociety (Observatório para la Cibersociedad - OCS). He founded and chaired the Future Club and the National Center of Comics, Scripts, and Images; he was one of the creators of the International Comics Biennial as well as the curator and producer of its three editions. He conducts activities in Teaching, Interdisciplinarity, Information Science, Network Sociology, Education, Communication, Health Promotion, and the Popularization of Science. He is an editor, journalist, and graphic and cultural producer; a specialist in complex and interactive systems and social networks; he is a moderator of virtual communities and consultant on Internet policies, information systems and communication, and distant learning.
